Paro to Thimphu

Your Bhutan holiday begins at Paro where you are met by our representative who will drive you to Thimphu.

Check-in to Le Méridien and then if time permits head for a short sightseeing tour of the capital of Bhutan. Visit Memorial Chorten (stupa or structure containing Buddhist relics) built in 1974 to honour Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, the Third King of Bhutan.

Thimphu

Enjoy a full day sightseeing tour of Thimphu today which includes:

Tashichhoedzong - The seat of the government since 1952 and houses the throne room and offices of the King, the secretariat and the ministries of home affairs and finance

Folk Heritage Museum - Established in 2001 and provides with fascinating insights into the Bhutanese material culture and way of life. The Folk Heritage Museum is set inside a three storied,19th-century traditional house.

Anim Dratshang(Nunnery) - A Buddhist Monastery, built in 1976 by the 16th emanation of Thangtong Gyalpo, Drubthob Rikey Jadrel. Currently, the nunnery is home to about 60 nuns.

Handicraft Emporium - A souvenir emporium which is run by the government where a wide variety of products are available.

 Royal Textile Academy of Bhutan – A National Centre for professional training in weaving design and production of Bhutanese Textile.

Thimphu to Paro

You head for Paro today. Paro valley extends from the confluence of the Paro Chhu and the Wang Chhu rivers at Chuzom up to Mt. Jomolhari at the Tibetan border. This picturesque region is one of the widest valleys in the kingdom and is covered in fertile rice fields and has a beautiful, crystalline river meandering down its length.

Check in at COMO Uma Paro, and then go on a sightseeing tour of Paro. See Drukgyel Dzong — the ruins of an old Fortress, Kyichu Lhakhang — a famous monastery and Ta Dzong—the National Museum of Bhutan.

Tiger’s Nest Monastery Trek

In the morning, trek to Taktsang Monastery, also known as Tiger's Nest Monastery—a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This trek involves ascending through picturesque Paro Valley over a period of 2-3 hours to reach the top. Ponies can also be hired for those requiring assistance with the hike. Return to the hotel after the trek and rest.

Day at Leisure

The entire day is at leisure. You can either indulge yourself in some holistic spa treatments at COMO Uma Paro or explore Paro on your own.

This is the last day of your Bhutan cultural tour as you travel to Paro Airport for your flight back home.
