Arrive in Johannesburg

Upon arrival at Johannesburg O.R.Tambo Airport, you will be met by our representative who will assist you to your private transfer to the hotel. Check into the hotel and spend the balance of the day at leisure.

In case you arrive in the morning, you can opt for a Half Day Johannesburg City Tour costing USD 40 per person (costs not included)

On this optional tour, visit Constitution Hill, home of South Africa’s architectural marvel, the Constitutional Court and site of Johannesburg’s Old Fort Prison (closed Sundays). Later you can explore the Maboneng Precinct which is a wonderful example of urban regeneration of the eastside of the Johannesburg CBD. Stop at Museum Africa, Johannesburg’s premier cultural history museum; reminiscent of a 1950’s shebeen or pub, and it is here where you will really sense the soul of the inner city.Return to the hotel via the flipside of the coin, the lush, up market suburb of lower Houghton.

Johannesburg – Kapama Private Game Reserve

Enjoy breakfast, check out and later you’ll be driven to Kapama Private Game Reserve in a private vehicle. Kapama Private Game Reserve is a part of the Greater Kruger area and represents Africa, the way it used to be, giving you a chance to reconnect to the natural world. With the mighty Drakensberg mountains in the distance and plentiful wildlife to spot, this expansive Game Reserve is truly an African Eden. Upon arrival, check-in to the lodge and enjoy lunch (arrival time permitting). Later head for an afternoon safari ride which may continue into the early evening in order to view the nocturnal animals as well. Return back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Please note: You’ll be treated with special dinner on Christmas Eve and a special lunch on the Christmas day. Same would go for New Years’ eve and New Years’ day. We’ll get the exact details on the same closer to time and would keep you informed.

At Kapama

After tea, coffee, and snacks your ranger will escort you to his open safari vehicle for your morning safari ride. As a part of the Greater Kruger area, Kapama Private Game reserve is the ideal place to spot vast herds of buffalo, elephant, antelope, along with plentiful predators. The Reserve's natural environment and vibrant eco-system provides you an opportunity to spot free-ranging wildlife. Return to the lodge, enjoy a hearty breakfast and rest for a while. Thereafter, have lunch and head out for an afternoon game drive that continues into the evening. Return to the lodge for a scrumptious dinner.

Kapama – Cape Town

After tea, coffee, and snacks your ranger will escort you to his open safari vehicle for your morning safari ride before returning to the lodge for breakfast. The Game-rich Reserve comprises of pristine African bushveld; home to the Big Five and other spectacular wildlife. Later, check out of the lodge and leave for Hoedspruit Airport (HDS) to connect with your domestic flight to Cape Town International Airport (Cost not included). On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Check in and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

PW Tip: There will be many festivals and open-air markets around Cape Town during this period and some music festivals as well for you to enjoy.

At Cape Town

Enjoy breakfast. Later, you will be collected at your hotel for a Private Half Day Cape Town City Tour. Ascend the iconic Table Mountain for unforgettable sweeping views (weather permitting). Later, return to the city and pass through the Malay Quarter and drive past the Castle of Good Hope, Houses of Parliament and the Company Gardens. Up next, travel to Sea Point and Camp’s Bay for scenic ocean vistas. Head to the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront (time permitting). Return to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

At Cape Town

Enjoy breakfast. Later, you will be collected at your hotel for a Private Full Day Cape Peninsula Tour.  On this trip, you get to travel at a pace that allows you to explore the beauty of the Cape Peninsula. Depart for the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve along one of South Africa’s most scenic routes, passing Hout Bay. Enjoy a cruise to Seal Island, to view seals and sea birds at Duiker Island (weather permitting) Tours depart at 08h45, 09h45, 11h00, 12h45, 14h45 or 15h45. Later, travel along Chapman’s Peak Drive (conditions permitting) and continue to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. The new lighthouse – the most powerful in the world – beams an electric light of 19 million candle power across the ocean. Up next, ascend to the top of by Funicular and also visit the penguin colony at Boulders Beach. Then, drive through the historic naval base town of Simon’s Town and end the day with a stroll through Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. The newly completed Treetop Canopy Walkway gives visitors the opportunity to experience the forest from high above the ground.Return to your hotel and spend the balance of the day at leisure.

Cape Town – Garden Route (Knysna)

Enjoy breakfast and check out. You will be met by your driver-guide for your 4 day overland tour of the Garden Route. Depart Cape Town and transfer to Knysna on the Garden Route.

Explore the quaint town known for its art & craft shops. “The place of the people, beauty and mystery.” This ever-popular charming town of legend, history, arts and crafts catering to visitor’s every need or fancy. The town is built on the banks of the Knysna Lagoon, a National Lake Area that falls under the protection of South African National Parks, is a home to more than 200 species of fish – including the rare Knysna seahorse – and is a popular destination for water sports enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

Embark on a ferry trip on the Knysna Lagoon to view the famous Knysna Heads aboard the pleasure boat, the John Benn (weather permitting). The John Benn is a double-decker floating restaurant offering a memorable family activity on Knysna Lagoon. Cruise to the Knysna Heads, on a boat steeped in history, named after a legendary pilot of a bygone era. Upon arrival at the hotel, check in and spend the balance of the day at leisure.

PW Tip: Look out for some music festivals to get entertained in the Garden Route as well.

Knysna – Tsitsikamma National Park – Knysna

Enjoy breakfast and later you will be met by your tour guide and transferred to the Tsitsikamma National Park. The Tsitsikamma National Park is situated at the heart of the picturesque Garden Route. Tsitsikamma is a Khoisan word meaning, “place of much water".  

In 1964 when it was proclaimed, it became the first Marine National Park in Africa and today the Park incorporates 80 km (50 miles) of rocky coastline with spectacular sea and landscapes. The Tsitsikamma’s spectacular scenery includes the Indian Ocean breakers, pounding rocky shores beneath 180 m high cliffs, ever-green forests and fynbos rolling down to the sea.

Optional Activities: (costs not included)

  • The Bloukrans Bungee: The world’s highest bungee bridge and the highest commercial natural bungee jump in the world. A ticket for per person would cost about USD 70 per person.
  • Canopy Tour: Enjoy a Canopy Tour in the Tsitsikamma Forest (weather conditions permitting). The unequalled beauty of the indigenous forest high up on ten treetop platforms. Gently glide along in a harness, on steel cables 30 metres above the forest floor. Birdlife is abundant (including Knysna Loeries and the elusive Narina Trojan), and your guides will explain the ecology of the lush primeval forest. A ticket for per person would cost about USD 40 per person.
  • Monkeyland & Birds of Eden: Monkeyland is the world’s first free roaming multi-specie primate sanctuary. Monkeyland is unique in that the sanctuary caters for several species of primate, and they are not caged; they are free to move about the forest and do so in harmony. Enjoy a guided walking safari in our indigenous forest by experienced game rangers. Birds of Eden (next to Monkeyland) is the World’s largest free-flight bird aviary (50 metres high, covering 23 000 square metres of forest). Birds of Eden houses more than 3,500 specimens of more than 280 species, with the main focus being African birds. Cost would be USD 20 per person
  • Lion Walk: Take a walk with Lions. An unparalleled experience giving you insight into the behaviour of these animals.  The lions roam free as you join them on a walk through riverine vegetation and African Bush. A comfortable walk, controlled by a guide, gives guests the opportunity to see how the lions play and interact. Walks depart at 08h00, 09h00, 10h00, 11h00, 14h00 and 15h00. Special Note: You have to be at least 1.5 metres tall to partake in this activity. This will cost you USD 50 per person

Knysna – Oudtshoorn

Enjoy breakfast and check out. Later, transfer to Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the world. Nowhere else are ostriches found in such great number and nowhere else do they produce feathers of such fine quality – but the world’s biggest bird is just one attraction in an area of enormous contrasts. 

Today, you’ll be visiting these main tourist attractions of Oudtshoorn. First, you’ll be visiting the Congo Caves, internationally renowned as one of the world’s great natural wonders. Sculpted by nature through the ages, their fascinating limestone formation occurs in a variety of ways. For the not so faint hearted there is the option of an adventure tour (at an additional charge) that takes guests deeper into the cave.

Then, visit the Cango Wildlife Ranch,a wildlife ranch 3 kilometres north of Oudtshoorn. Established in 1977, the Cango Wildlife Ranch is internationally recognized as one of South Africa’s premier attractions in the Western Cape, providing visitors with a world-class experience like no other. The tour takes your through different habitats where you can see animals such as the crocodile, exotic birds, tiger, cheetah and white lion. Lastly, you’ll be visiting the Safari Ostrich Show Farm. Spend some time at this working ostrich farm for an unforgettable tour where you will come face to face with the biggest bird in the world. The tour starts in the breeding camp and ends with an “Ostrich Derby” as local jockeys display their ostrich riding skills. There is also the option of taking a tractor tour through an ostrich camp (at an additional charge). Later, continue to the hotel. Check-in on arrival and spend the balance of the day at leisure.

Oudtshoorn – Cape Winelands

Enjoy breakfast, check-out and transfer to Cape Winelands via the famed and scenic ROUTE 62.  Cape Route 62 is the tourist route in the Western Cape that meanders between Oudtshoorn and Cape Town offering the shorter, scenic alternative to the N2 highway.

It's an area of magnificent landscapes and towering cliffs, crystal clear streams and an abundance of trees and indigenous flora. The ever changing colours of the majestic mountains, scenic passes, rivers, vineyards and orchards, as well as the multitude of attractions, will offer you an unforgettable adventure - whether this is in the physical sense or simply a kaleidoscope of scenic tranquillity.

Upon arrival at the Cape Winelands, you’ll be visiting Stellenbosch, the heart of South Africa’s wine industry. It is a place of great beauty and culture that is steeped in South African tradition. The Stellenbosch wine route is arguably the country’s most famous, and the Stellenbosch Wine of Origin area includes 106 cellars.

In Stellenbosch, visit the Spier Wine Estate and enjoy wine tasting. Spier wine farm is not your typical winelands experience. Their wine making style challenges convention, yet still respects tradition.

Later, continue towards the hotel. Check-in on arrival and spend the balance of the day at leisure.
