Your India tiger tour begins at New Delhi Airport, where you will be met by our representative, who will help you get to your hotel. The rest of your day is at leisure.
New Delhi, the capital city of India is one of the largest and fastest-growing metropolises in the world. The city's colorful history is embodied in its monuments, forts and historical places. If you have some time today, consider visiting architectural marvels like Red Fort, Humayun's Tomb and Qutub Complex, explore the quaint embassy district near Khan Market, find quaint cafes and restaurants at Hauz Khas, shop at Connaught Place, visit the National Museum, or sample delectable street food (at your own risk!).
Optional Tour: Add a day-trip or overnight visit to the Taj Mahal and enhance your holiday. Located in Agra, 3 hours away from Delhi, the Taj Mahal is the ultimate symbol of love. Travelers visit the Taj Mahal to appreciate its stunning architecture and re-live Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal's epic love story.
Fly to Khajuraho today (price not included). The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Khajuraho Temples, a complex of Hindu and Jain temples, is famous for their erotic sculptures. There's more to these sculptures than their sensuality, they're of great symbolic importance in Indian mythology. Your guide will take you around the temples and explain their significance as well.
Stay the night at Taj Chandela, a haven of peace and tranquility tucked away in 11 acres of landscaped gardens.
Bandhavgarh beckons today! Leave Khajuraho and travel to Bandhavgarh National Park (approx 4.5 hours drive), where you will be based for the next three nights. Go on an afternoon game drive in Bandhavgarh National Park to acquaint yourself with the park's terrain and environment. The Park is best known for having one of the highest densities of tigers in India. Bandhavgarh also has a rich variety of birdlife and you are likely to spot beautiful species of egrets, hornbills, kingfishers, and eagles that are endemic to the region.
Stay the night at King's Lodge, surrounded by beautiful Sal forests, and only a ten-minute drive from the Tala gate of Bandhavgarh National Park. The lodge has 10 cottage rooms and 8 stilt cottage rooms, all with en-suite modern bathrooms.
Your quest for the Tiger in Bandhavgarh continues over the next two days. You maximize your chances of sighting the tiger by going on morning and evening safaris in Bandhavgarh National Park. Start each day early at dawn on a morning jeep drive. Watch the mist disappear in the dense sal forests and the deer come out to graze in the morning sun. The early morning drive will whet your appetite for a hearty breakfast back at the lodge. You can then relax until after lunch. Late in the afternoon, you leave for another game drive. This is an ideal time to spot animals as they venture out to the waterholes after facing the heat of the day. Photographers will have many opportunities to shoot great pictures. Return to the lodge at dusk after the park closes. Relax under the stars and relish an authentic Indian dinner before you retire for the day.
Head for Kanha National Park (approx 6-hour drive) today. You'll spend the next three days on safari here. Explore the Park's beautiful landscapes of lush forests and open meadows, grazing grounds of the deer and gaur, on an afternoon safari in Kanha. The Park is home to the rare hard-ground Barasingha or swamp deer, and the endangered Royal Bengal Tiger. Look for langurs, leopards, and dholes (wild dogs) as well.
Stay the night at Kanha Earth Lodge. Hidden away in 16 acres of natural forest, Kanha Earth Lodge lies in a small hamlet bordering Kanha’s buffer zone, located 30 minutes from the Khatia/Kisli park gate. Accommodation comprises 12 luxury bungalows with en suite bathrooms and open verandahs, inspired by Gond tribal architecture (local architecture). The absence of neighboring lodges or highways creates an ideal setting for nature walks, birding and cycling trip through the surrounding forest.
Continue to explore Kanha National Park over three full days. This leg of your journey provides ample time to spot elusive tigers! Your days begin with early morning safaris and picnic breakfasts. Dawn is an ideal time to spot birds and smaller wildlife. Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation, and then head out again for evening game drives in Kanha National Park.
Time permitting, you will also drive to Bahmni Dadar – the highest point in Kanha. It offers panoramic views of the entire park.
Drive down to Nagpur Airport (approx 6-hour drive) for an evening flight to Delhi (not included in price). Our representative will meet you at the Delhi airport and help you get to your hotel.
After a thrilling 10-day Indian wildlife tour, your holiday ends in New Delhi. If time permits you can spend the final day exploring Delhi before heading for the airport and flying home.
Requires a spirit of adventure and some degree of fitness, as the trip might consist of many activities or long journeys. These adventures involve walking, trekking, hiking, cycling, rafting, sea kayaking, or driving for long hours, at times for up to six to eight hours a day at a steady pace. The maximum altitude is 3000m, so it requires you to be reasonably physically fit because you may be travelling in extreme weather conditions. The trips are usually 6 to 12 days in duration.
