Mexico’s capital city is the largest in North America in terms of population. Downtown Mexico City has interesting historical sights and a vast array of museums as well. Taxis are an effective way of getting around, though you might prefer taking the metro during rush hour.
Located in the heart of Mexico City, the Best Western Majestic offers you the unique experience of staying in a historical hotel in downtown Mexico City. The hotel prides itself on excellent services and personal attention. All rooms are spacious with excellent views of the Zocalo and Madero Avenue where you can see the Flag raising ceremony each morning and afternoon. Some rooms look over the charming interior patio.
Explore the Anthropology Museum before travelling to the quaint town of Valle de Bravo.
Visit the Anthropology Museum today, one of the world's finest archaeological museums that house a vast collection of artefacts in 23 exhibition halls. Its most famous exhibit is the Aztec sunstone, a cosmological calendar.
Then travel to Valle de Bravo, a charming town surrounded by mountains. Valle de Bravo is an important tourist destination owing to its excellent hotels, restaurants, equestrian club, golf courses, and a stunning lake. Check in at the Mesón de las Leyendas (The House of Legends) hotel. Located in the center of town, this charming hotel was once a village inn, a convent, and even a home to local artists! The present design maintains traditional elements such as high ceilings, terracotta tiled floors, wood furnishings, and a beautiful garden. Each room is decorated with unique traditional Mexican flair and equipped with modern amenities. The beds have very comfortable mattresses and bedding consists of 400 count Egyptian cotton sheets and 100% wool covers.
See the monarch butterfly migration at Piedra Herrada Sanctuary.
You get your first opportunity to see the beautiful monarch butterflies today at the Piedra Herrada Sanctuary. Horses take you up a trail most of the way, after which you walk, often through thick vegetation, to the spot where the butterflies are located. This area is wilder than the other sanctuaries and provides a more remote nature experience. Once you find a colony, you’ll be completely surrounded by butterflies! They’ll be in your hair, on your backpack, everywhere!
The monarch butterfly migration takes place every autumn (around October end) when millions of monarchs migrate from the US to Mexico and California to escape the winter. Surprisingly, the monarchs only use specific trees each year. Considering that the same butterflies don’t migrate every year, this information transfer is quite a mystery!
Experience the monarch butterfly migration at El Capulin Sanctuary.
Look at monarchs at El Capulin Sanctuary today. You can see the largest and most beautiful prairie of the Monarch region here called Los Tres Gobernadores (The Three Governors). Due to its access position and the hibernation colonies location, you can watch an amazing transition of vegetation in this region, an intriguing sight for nature lovers.
Enjoy a day of leisure at Valle de Bravo where you can take up adventure sports at the lake.
Today you’re free day to explore Valle de Bravo on your own. Life here is built around the beautiful lake where you can go boating, sailing, water skiing, and kayaking. You also can go hang gliding, rent a bicycle, or choose revisit any of the sanctuaries here.
