Your holiday beings at the capital city of Kathmandu! Spend the day walking through the buzzing lanes of the city, discovering Kathmandu on your own, or relax and prepare for your adventure ahead!
Start your adventure at the capital city of Kathmandu. Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, meet our representative and transfer to your hotel. You will be briefed about your activities for the next few days here. The rest of the day is free to explore Kathmandu on your own or relax at the hotel.
A lively and buzzing city, Kathmandu is growing rapidly. But behind the modern buildings and cars, you can still find peaceful alleyways, beautiful temples and serene courtyards. It’s easy to get around the city in taxis and explore its many sights and sounds.
Hotel Marshyangdi is conveniently situated in the heart of Thamel, Kathmandu’s tourist area. All rooms are aimed at comfort and have modern amenities. Enjoy a variety of cuisines at the restaurant or café, and relax at the bar.
Have a day of cultural overload on a Kathmandu city tour as you visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Boudhanath, and the Hindu temples of Pashupatinath, Patan Durbar Square, Golden Temple, and other places in Patan.
Today, go on a tour to see historic monuments, temples, monasteries, palaces and UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Boudhanath, and the Hindu temples of Pashupatinath. As you travel along the beautiful locales of Kathmandu, more diversified cultural settings in the valley will welcome you. Learn about Buddhism and the history of the beautiful stupa at Boudhanath, one of the holiest places for Buddhists.
Visit Patan Durbar Square, Mahaboudha Temple, Kumbeshwor Temple, Krishna Temple, Golden Temple, and many other places in Patan. See intricately carved windows, intrinsic roof struts, statues of gods and goddesses, temples designed in pagoda style, and repoussé metalwork. Also visit a handicraft center in Patan.
Visit a Tharu village and learn about the lives of the local people. Watch a beautiful sunset from your lodge and enjoy a cultural show after dinner.
Drive to Chitwan National Park today. The six-hour scenic drive is from Kathmandu on the Prithivi Highway along the banks of Trisuli River. Drive past several traditional Tharu villages and eventually reach your lodge.
After lunch at the lodge, go on a village tour to a nearby ethnic Tharu village where you will learn more about the life and lifestyle of the Tharus. Then visit the National Park Visitor’s Centre where you can learn more about the history of the National Park and about the wildlife found here.
Return to your lodge to see the sunset from the banks of the Rapti River followed by dinner. See a Tharu dance performance by the local villagers in which you can also participate. Alternatively, see a slideshow presentation about Chitwan.
Ideally located a few minutes away from Chitwan National Park at Saurah, Jungle Safari Lodge is a combination of luxury and wildlife adventure. It has 20 deluxe air-conditioned and well-furnished rooms with attached baths and 24 hours hot and cold water supply. Each room has a verandah with a scenic view. The restaurant serves delicious Nepalese, Indian, Chinese and Continental cuisine.
Enjoy canoeing, take a jungle walk in Chitwan National Park today. Spot one-horned rhinoceros, tigers, gharial crocodiles, Bengal floricans, Oriental darters, and other species.
Spend the day exploring Chitwan National Park. At least 43 species of mammals can be found here. The Park is known for its population of the endangered one-horned rhinoceros, tigers, and gharial crocodiles. It is also home to leopards, sloth bears, wild boars, deer, and bison. Around 550 species of birds have been reported in the Park. Spot the critically endangered Bengal florican, the vulnerable lesser adjutant, grey-crowned prinia, swamp francolin, the near-threatened Oriental darter, and several species of grass warblers. The Park is one of the few known breeding sites of the globally threatened spotted eagle. Apart from the resident birds, around 160 migrating and vagrant species arrive in Chitwan in autumn including the greater spotted eagle, eastern imperial eagle, and Pallas's fish-eagle.
After breakfast, take a canoe ride along the Rapti River, excellent for bird watching and sighting two rare species of crocodiles: the marsh mugger and the fish eating gharial. Then go for jungle walk around Chitwan National Park. On the way back to Lodge, see elephants bathing in the nearby river!
After lunch, head into the Park to see various wildlife on an elephant safari. In the evening you will be presented with either a Tharu cultural dance or a slide show presentation.
Have a fun day at an elephant breeding centre today. Also visit Twenty Thousand Lake for bird watching.
Have an early breakfast and leave for the Elephant Breeding Centre at Chitwan. This is a fascinating place to watch mothers interact with baby elephants, see them roll around in the dust, ward off insects with their trunks, and generally go about their day.
Return to the Lodge for lunch and then drive to Twenty Thousand Lake for a jeep safari. This Lake is an excellent spot for bird watching.
Transfer to Bardia National Park, visit another elephant breeding centre, and meet the local Tharu people.
Drive to Bardia National Park after breakfast. The Park houses at least 53 mammals including rhinoceroses, wild elephants, Bengal tigers, swamp deer, and Gangetic dolphins. Around 407 bird species are found including the Bengal florican, white-rumped vulture, peafowl, and bar-headed geese.
Check in to your lodge. After lunch, visit a Tharu village to learn about the lives of its inhabitants. Then visit the Elephant Breeding Centre at Bardia. The Centre breeds elephants that are trained to help the Nepal Army who patrol the Park in search of poachers. They also help Park Rangers count elephant, rhino and tiger populations, and take tourists on jungle safaris. Return to the resort and see the sunset at banks of the Karnali River.
Rhino Lodge Bardia is located right next to Bardia National Park, close to the elephant stables. It comprises comfortable cottage-type accommodation with en suite facilities. It is set over a large area amidst manicured lawns, walkways, and gardens.
Visit a crocodile breeding centre, a Tharu museum, and go for a jungle walk.
After an early breakfast, a guide will then take you to the Crocodile Breeding Centre at Bardia where you can see gharial and marsh mugger crocodiles that are being bred here for eventual release into the Park. Visit the Tharu Museum next. The Tharu people are the original settlers of Bardia who coexisted with the wild animals here in total isolation until 1895.
Go for a jungle walk with a packed lunch in the afternoon. In the evening, the Lodge will present a Tharu cultural dance performance for your entertainment.
Spend the first half of the day exploring Bardia Park on safari. Go tiger tracking in the second half!
Go on a half-day jeep safari to spot more wildlife. In the second half of the day, a guide will take you on an exciting trail for tiger tracking!
After a final journey into the Park for some bird watching, travel back to Kathmandu.
Rise early and go bird watching. Return to the lodge for breakfast and check out. Transfer to Nepalgunj Airport for your flight to Kathmandu. Transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Your exciting Nepal adventure comes to an end today as you transfer to the airport for your flight home.
Requires a spirit of adventure and some degree of fitness, as the trip might consist of many activities or long journeys.
