You will be received by our representative on arrival at Kathmandu airport who will help you settle into your hotel. Be sure to get a good night’s rest as tomorrow we embark on an exciting journey into the wilderness of Nepal!
Today, we leave for the airport in the morning, to board our flight to Biratnagar, the second largest town of Nepal. This short flight gives us an opportunity to feast our eyes with spectacular mountain views and lush lowlands. From Biratnagar we take a two hour drive to Koshi camp.
Later in the afternoon, we go on an Elephant Safari into the riverine forest. Look out for the wildlife and the rich variety of birds that are found in the reserve. We return to the camp for an evening of rest and relaxation.
Route: Kathmandu to Bandipur
After breakfast, on day three, we raft down the Sapta Koshi River. The four hour river trip gives us ample time to sight animal and bird life that visit the banks of Sapta Koshi. Later in the afternoon we enjoy a relaxed walk around the marshland and river lagoons. We drive back to our camp in the evening.
Route: Bandipur to the Siddha Cave
Today, we drive along the Koshi Barrage, which is roughly a four hour drive, to spot the migratory Trans-Himalayan birds. One can also try their luck in spotting the shy Gangetic Dolphins. Post lunch, we set out in jeeps to explore the reserve further.

Early in the morning, we embark on a near eight hour long drive across the lowland belt. We travel to the largest jungle in Nepal, Chitwan National Park. On arrival we check in and spend the day relaxing. The next four nights will be spent in Chitwan.
Route: Ghandruk to Tadapani
Day six starts with an early morning safari. The safari begins with a visit to the Gharial Crocodile Breeding Center located inside the park. Here, we will be told about the conservation efforts that are being undertaken to protect the Gharial Crocodile. After the visit, we will continue on our safari and explore the varied landscape of Chitwan. Look out for the One-horned Rhinoceroses, Tigers, Leopards and the rich array of bird life that inhabits the park.
Later on in the morning, we drive to the banks of the river Rapti. Here we embark on a canoe ride. The river serves as a natural boundary that separates the park from human settlements. The canoe ride lends us an opportunity to sight Rhinoceroses and other animals on the banks of the river. We drive back to our lodge for breakfast.
After lunch, we leave for an afternoon safari in order to explore new sections of the park. At dusk we return to the lodge and enjoy a relaxed evening by a bonfire. Dinner is served marking an end to another fascinating day!
Chitwan National Park is situated in the subtropical inner Terai lowlands of south central Nepal. The park is known for its population of endangered One-horned Rhinoceros, Tiger and Gharial Crocodile, along with many other species of animals.
Route: Tadapani to Ghorepani
Today, we drive for about half an hour to reach the Elephant breeding center. After spending some time here, we explore the park on foot for two hours. We walk through dense Sal forest and look for wildlife around the wetlands. After the walk through the jungle, we drive via Geeta Nagar for an hour to reach the park boundary. Our new hotel for the next 2 nights is located here.
Our afternoon starts off with a drive to Kasara, which is the head quarter of The Royal Chitwan National Park. Here we will see the Gharial hatchery project, founded by the Frankfurt Zoological Society. The Gharial is an endangered long-snouted crocodile. After a short introduction to the project, we drive to the Oxbow Lakes (Lami Tal and Tamar Tal, travelling through thick Sal forests. Look out for the wildlife of the park on this drive!
After this we drive down to Rapti river once more. We now go canoeing in a traditional dug-out canoe. This mesmerizing trip down the Rapti river gives us the opportunity to view Aquatic Birds, Crocodiles, and many more animals that visit the banks of the river. We disembark at the end of the ride and drive back to our lodge.
Route: Ghorepani to Tatopani
In the morning, we go on a game drive to view the wildlife of the park. Be sure to have your eyes peeled for the animals!
We return to our lodge for breakfast. Next we learn about Elephants from an experienced naturalist at the elephant stable. This is followed by your chance to watch these massive species up close! After the elephant bathing session, we take an Ox cart ride to a nearby tribal village. After our visit to the village, we return to our lodge.
Tatopani to Ghasa
Today we hit the highway for about four and a half hours to drive eastwards to Lumbini, the birth place of Buddha. Later in the afternoon, we tour Lumbini Park, where we visit the Maya Devi Temple, Pushkarni Pond and the Ashoka Pillar, apart from many archaeological relics from the past. One can find the rare Sarus Crane here as well as the Jackal and the Deer. We spend the night at our accommodation in Lumbini.
Today’s approximate seven hour drive takes us to Bardia National Park. The route leads us towards the tropical jungles of west Nepal.
Bardia National Park holds the second largest density of the Royal Bengal Tiger in Nepal after Chitwan National Park and is also home to 19 of Nepal’s 39 legally protected species. These include the endangered One-horned Rhinoceros, the Asian Elephant, Swamp Deer, Jungle Cat, Spotted Deer, Barking Deer, Blue Bull, Common Leopard, Sloth Bear, Wild Boar, Mongoose, Common Langur, Rhesus Macaque, Gangetic Dolphin and Gharial Crocodile. The park also provides shelter to 255 species of birds, including the threatened Bengal Florican, Lesser Florican, Lesser Adjutant and Sarus Crane.
On arrival, we check in to our lodge. Relax and rest for the rest of the day.
Route: Ghasa to Larjung
We take a nature walk, early in the morning, on day eleven. Later, in the afternoon, we take an Elephant ride into the National Park looking for wildlife and return to the lodge at dusk.
A slide show will be arranged for you in the evening by an experienced naturalist. You will now have the opportunity to learn about the landscape, vegetation and the wildlife in the park. You now know what to look out for in Bardia National Park.
We start day twelve with a one and a half hour drive through thick woodlands to reach Chisapani. We raft along the Karnali, Nepal’s longest river, for about four hours. Be sure to be on the look out for the rare Gangetic Dolphin! We disembark and drive back to the lodge for dinner.
Route: Larjung to Jomsom
Today, we leave for an Elephant Safari early in the morning. We return to the lodge for breakfast. Post lunch, we leave for an afternoon game drive in the park, hoping to find the Royal Bengal Tiger. We return to the lodge at dusk.
Route: Jomsom to Pokhara
Today, we drive down to Nepalgunj airport, which is about a couple of hours’ drive from Bardia, to catch our flight to Kathmandu. We check in at our hotel on arrival and spend the rest of the day relaxing.

The last day of the Nepal Wildlife tour is spent at the hotel, after which we leave for the airport to board our flight home.
Fitness is vital for this level of activity, as the environment traversed may be remote and challenging. These rugged experiences include long walks, trekking, cycling or rafting in isolated areas through variable weather conditions for up to eight to ten hours a day. These trips are usually 13 to 19 days in duration. Maximum altitude reached will be 4000m and you need to be very fit in order to withstand the weather conditions. Good physical condition is essential and previous hill-walking experience or preparation is advisable.
