Arrive in Lima and transfer to your hotel, located right in the heart of Miraflores, next to the Central Park and facing the handicrafts market. Miraflores is well known for its extensive shopping options, beautiful gardens, and accessible beaches.
The desert city of Lima is generally just a passing-through point for tourists. However, if presented with an opportunity to explore Lima, consider visiting its many stately museums, viewing art exhibitions, marveling at colonial architecture, and indulging in exhaustive shopping!
Today you will be met at the hotel in time for an early morning flight to Cusco (Domestic flight not included). Our representative will meet you on arrival and assist in transferring you to your hotel. The afternoon is free to soak up the atmosphere of the Plaza de Armas on your own, but it is worth remembering to take it easy and eat lightly while your body adjusts to being at a high altitude.
A beautifully landscaped space, the Plaza de Armas is a popular lunch spot. Cafes, restaurants and shops adorn the sides of the Plaza.
Transfer to the train station for a journey up to the little town of Aguas Calientes, nestled at the bottom of the valley below the famous Machu Picchu ruins. After checking into your hotel, go on a guided tour of the ruins. The evening is free at leisure.
One of the Seven Wonders of the World, Machu Picchu, is an archeological marvel. It is still not exactly clear why the Incas built Machu Pichhu, some archaeologists believe that it was a city for the elite while others believe that it was a place for religious gatherings and ceremonies.
Primarily a gateway to Machu Picchu, Aguas Calientes is a tourist-friendly town with few attractions apart from the main ruins. If time permits, soak in the thermal baths on the hills, or get a relaxing massage, alternatively, enjoy the facilities of your hotel. Rest well for tomorrow's Machu Picchu trip.

Ensure an early start to catch the first bus up to Machu Picchu. By doing this you will have a chance to explore more of the ruins, with the knowledge you gained from the previous day. Another advantage of visiting at this time is the potential to climb the Wayna Picchu peak; only 400 hundred people a day are allowed to climb to the heights to enjoy an unprecedented view of Machu Picchu ruins and the surrounding valleys. Transfer back to Cusco by train in the afternoon in time to freshen up at your hotel before an evening meal.
Depart Cusco after an early breakfast and start an exciting journey that will take you from the high Andes, with spectacular views of the sacred valley, right down into the cloud forest.
Arrive at Paucartambo, the center of ancient trading routes of the Incas, and stop for a light refreshment. Here, you will have the chance to experience some local culture, traditional dances and celebrations as well as learn about the Andean communities’ use of biodiversity within the forest. Continue on towards one of the highest points of the day at Acjanaco (3,500 m), a park rangers’ station and the entrance to Manu National Park. If weather conditions permit, you may have the chance of seeing the spectacular views of Peru’s largest National Park.
Amidst the clouds, travel on towards San Pedro, where you will have lunch. Take in the dramatic changes of the landscape as you go and reach the lodge in the afternoon, for your overnight stay.
The evening is at leisure.
An early morning start takes you out into the cloud forest to see one of its main attractions, the Cock of The Rock bird, the national bird of Peru. If you’re lucky, you may witness the bird’s dance ritual up close. After breakfast at the lodge, begin the journey down further into the cloud forest. See the spectacled bear, different species of monkeys and a vast variety of birds.
Then visit a coca plantation where you will learn about the uses of coca leaves and their medicinal properties. After a short stop at Pillcopata, head on to the port-town of Atalaya, and board a motorized canoe. A one-hour ride to the Manu Learning Centre takes you across the Alto Madre de Dios, one of the southern most tributaries of the legendary Amazonas River. On arrival, you will be shown around the lodge before lunch.
In the afternoon, explore the local trail system with a naturalist guide, before relaxing at the lodge to the sounds of forest. During your stay you can learn about the human history of Manu and the challenges faced in conserving this beautiful and fragile environment while talking to the guides and researchers on site.
One of the most interesting activities at the Centre is monitoring the clay lick or collpa where, among others, the endangered Blue Headed Macaw is observed and studied. Join the scientists and researchers on an early morning boat trip to the hide, five minutes up river, to observe the activity of macaws, parrots, and parakeets. As day breaks and the sun rises, see the beautiful colours of the birds as they flock together on the walls of the clay lick.
On your way back for breakfast, head into the forest and visit a bio- garden; part of the Centre’s sustainable project which also supplies food to the lodge’s kitchen. From here, head through multiple forest types, running into squirrel monkeys, humming birds and razor-billed curassows. Spend the afternoon at your own leisure or go out with one of the specialist guides at the lodge to explore more of the 25km of trails, or visit the local Shintuya community and hot springs.
After dinner, view a presentation on sustainability and conservation and learn more about the ongoing work the Crees foundation does to help preserve the region. There is also always the possibility to head out on a night walk to spot nocturnal animals.
Depart the Centre after breakfast today. Take the boat back to the port-town of Atalaya, where you will board your transport to take you back to Cuzco. The landscape will change dramatically as you climb up into the cloud forest towards the Andes and then down to Cuszo. Reach your hotel in time for dinner.
Your holiday in Peru comes to an end today. You will be transferred to the airport in Cuzco for your flight to Lima (Domestic flight not included) to connect with your international flight home.
Requires a spirit of adventure and some degree of fitness, as the trip might consist of many activities or long journeys.
